The Tuscia In Jazz Seminars are an extraordinary chance to meet world’s greatest jazzmen and to become better musicians and better humans. The classes are open to everyone who mean to improve his knowledge of one ore more instruments in the jazz music field, and will take place all day-long with instrument lessons, ensamble music lessons and classes of theory and harmony. At the end of the seminars the students will be given a certificate of attendance. With the Tuscia In Jazz’s teaching format, a single enrolment fee allows to attend every single instrument class and every concert with no extra costs. At the end of the summer camp, during the Night In Jazz, students will play on stage with their teachers.
Scott Colley

Scott Colley is an American jazz bassist and Composer. Scott has performed extensively in bands led by: Herbie Hancock, Jim Hall, Andrew Hill, Michael Brecker, Chris Potter, Pat Metheny, Carmen McRae, Edward Simon, Adam Rogers, Brian Blade, David Binney, Antonio Sanchez, Kenny Werner. He has appeared on over 200 recordings to date and has also toured and recorded as leader. Born on November 24, 1963, Scott began studying bass at age 11. When 13 he started studying with bassist Monty Budwig. He attended Eagle Rock High School in Los Angeles, where he studied under John Rinaldo, renowned director of music at the school. After graduating high school he was granted a full scholarship to the California Institute for the Arts, where he focused on composition and jazz studies while also studying privately with Charlie Haden and classical bassist Fred Tinsley (of the Los Angeles Philharmonic). In 1986, he toured and recorded with jazz vocal legend Carmen McRae. He graduated Cal Arts with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1988 and soon after moved to New York City.
Ben Wolfe

Ben Wolfe is an American jazz double bassist and academic. During his career he has worked with Harry Connick, Jr. (for five years), Diana Krall and Wynton Marsalis’s Septet.[clarification needed] Wolfe has also played in the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, as well as playing with Carl Allen, Benny Green, Branford Marsalis, James Moody and Eric Reed . He teaches at the Juilliard School in New York City, New York.
Joe Martin

Joe Martin is one of the most sought-after bassists on the current New York City jazz scene. Known for his warm sound, facile ear, harmonic flexibility, and lyrical solos, he has performed with a diverse range of musicians which includes Andy Bey, Vinicius Cantuaria, Bill Charlap, Anat Cohen, Avishai Cohen, Billy Drummond, Art Farmer, Aaron Goldberg, Jon Gordon, Ari Hoenig, Joel Frahm, Larry Goldings, Gilad Hekselman, Ethan Iverson, Guillermo Klein, Jonathan Kreisberg, Ivan Lins, Lionel Loueke, Bill McHenry, John McNeil, Brad Mehldau, The Mingus Big Band, Ben Monder, Jane Monheit, Chris Potter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Maria Schneider, Jaleel Shaw, Mark Turner, and many others. Continuous musical dialogue amongst great musicians is a major source of inspiration for Joe. Composition is another indispensable component to Joe’s musical world. A strong melodic sense and the use of the bass part as both function and counterpoint are apparent in his writing. His most recent CD, available on Anzic Records, is titled Not By Chance, and it features Chris Potter, Brad Mehldau, and Marcus Gilmore. His debut CD Passage (Fresh Sound New Talent Records) which features Mark Turner, Kevin Hays, and Jorge Rossy, received much acclaim from critics and musicians alike. He has lead gigs in New York City at clubs including The Jazz Gallery, The Jazz Standard, Smoke, and Smalls.
Pippo Matino

Pippo Matino (Naples, December 19, 1965) is an Italian bassist. Leader dell’Essential Team, is considered by critics one of the best Italian and European jazz bassists. After studying the electric bass for many years, has begun to collaborate and to affect the early records with artists such as Lello Panico, Maurizio Giammarco, Massimo Urbani, Danilo Rea and play in training with Peter Condorelli, Bob Fix, Peter Pino Iodice Larry Nocella, Franco Del Prete, Antonio Onorato, Daniele Sepe, Alberto D’Anna, Marco Zurzolo. He was a member of the band of James Siena Napoli Centrale. Later he was a member of the quintet with Bob Fix Ernesto Vitolo, and Lanfranco Giacoia Franco Fornari, with whom he recorded an album. He also played with saxophonist Stefano Di Battista and trumpeter Flavio Boltro, with whom he recorded an album produced by France’s France Blue Note Records, followed by a tour in France. The Essential Team is his current band, composed of musicians Claudio Romano (drums), Julius Martin (sax), Roberto Schiano (trombone). In the past they have played in this formation Pietro Iodice, Sergio Christmas, Rosario Giuliani, Javier Girotto and Rocco Zifarelli. His first solo album is Low Voltage, in 1993 (with Mike Stern and Del Negro Horacio Hernandez). His second solo album is “Essential Team” produced by Maurizio Silvestri (Mediterranean Music at Century Med Corporate Music) and Joe arbieri (Microcosmodischi). In 2007 took part in the Giotto Jazz Festival, playing alongside so Marangolo Augustine, Stefano Cocco Cantini, Lele Fontana and Bernard Baglioni.
